Location: Holyoke, Massachusetts
Client: DHK Architects/The Community Builders
The housing development, consisting of 18 two-story brick buildings, has provided affordable housing for decades and is now undergoing substantial rehabilitation.
The buildings are arranged on terraced sites and contain three large courtyard spaces located in the center of the development. Copley Wolff Design Group’s scope of work includes improvements to the streetscapes, fencing, sidewalks, accessibility, lighting, plantings, two playground spaces, enhanced community gardens, site furnishing, and paving. The design integrates community paths to connect open space amenities, encourage public interaction, and establish a hierarchy and orientation within the development.
