Copley Wolff Design Group was responsible for the redesign of an aging playground located in Boston’s Mattapan neighborhood. The design re-imagines the space and re-arranges activity zones to maximize play opportunities.
Aging play equipment was replaced with inclusive play structures, a new climbing net, and a three-bay swing set. In addition, the design incorporates a water play pad; a mounded lawn area for buffering; and a gathering area with a long accessible picnic table. To support green design, existing trees were preserved; native planting was introduced; and impervious surfaces were reduced to allow for more infiltration and groundwater recharge.
