Massachusetts State Police Barracks
Location: Boston, Massachusetts
Client: Finegold Alexander Architects
The barracks occupy a prominently visible location in the Lower Charles River Basin, and provides an opportunity for a public facility that is both functional and visually appealing. The goal is to restore and repurpose the historic structure with an addition and low impact site design that integrates with the historic Charles Esplanade context. Copley Wolff Design Group’s design includes site circulation and parking; historic canal access and reactivation; open space expansion opportunities; accessibility; and coordination with the Esplanade and MassDOT on a potential pedestrian footbridge over Storrow Drive.
