OUR HISTORY

In 1996, two landscape architects teamed up to pursue the highly-coveted streetscape project for the Big Dig. John Copley and Lynn Wolff believed that a Boston-based firm should lead the design for what would become one of the city’s most important open spaces. The hometown team won the project and ever since then, Copley Wolff has been creating the kind of wonderfully unexpected urban spaces that make cities more livable.

OUR AESTHETIC is inventive, playful, poetic, dynamic, wild and sometimes simple. In other words, we don’t have one aesthetic – we have many. Each space is an opportunity to start anew. We are hands-on and like our predecessors John and Lynn, collaborative. We are regional and devoted to the materiality and detailing specific to the area. We let the unknowable randomness of nature perfect our designs.

OUR WORK reflects a love for all the natural elements that define New England. Our designs in the public realm are approachable, accessible and inclusive. We understand the community because we are members of the community. Our partners include architects, developers and city planners. While the elegant streetscapes, warm and welcoming public spaces, hip roof terraces, winding waterfronts and all the little urban gems we created, well, they speak for themselves.
