Copley Wolff brought together a complex team to develop a public realm master plan and phase 1 implementation design to achieve a more active and vibrant public realm that would attract visitors and residents and catalyze investment in the City’s historic downtown. The Court Square Public Realm Master Plan lays the groundwork for establishing a cohesive identity through a revitalized landscape, streetscape, and pedestrian experience on par with the potentials for a highly active, engaging destination district.
The phase 1 implementation project, which is currently under construction, addresses traffic-calming and pedestrian improvements at Springfield’s busy Main/Court Street intersection, rehabilitates the City’s historic Court Square, and develops vibrant public plazas and shared-use streets that will serve as festival and event space throughout the summer.
